For Mewa, sustainability means: thinking and acting in a way that protects people and the environment, both today and in the future.

Mewa’s 360° service ensures that cleaning cloths are used for a long time, regularly maintained and reused time and again. This means we avoid waste, save water and energy, and help companies fulfil their responsibility towards the environment and society.

Efficient washing processes

Every wash cycle counts – for clean textiles and efficient use of resources

We wash our textiles as resource-efficiently as possible by recirculating, filtering and reusing the water several times.

Thermal recovery

Turning dirt into energy

By recovering heat from residual materials and plant heat, we cover a significant portion of the energy demand of our washing and drying facilities ourselves, thereby reducing our primary energy consumption.

CO₂ emissions reduction

Travelling efficiently

We use modern technology, optimise our processes and continuously develop our distribution logistics. These measures can help to reduce CO₂ emissions in various areas of our business activities.

This includes digital route planning and city hubs, as well as the deployment and testing of electric, gas and hydrogen lorries, to establish practical solutions for everyday operations.

Waste prevention and recycling

Sustainably packaged, safely transported

We also apply the reusable principle to transport and storage: Our laundry bags are designed for repeated use in the transport and cleaning cycle of the 360° service.

For cleaning cloths, we have developed the Mewa Safety Container SaCon®, which is designed for a long service life in continuous use. Our reusable cleaning cloths are professionally laundered and reused after each use – unlike disposable cloths, which must be discarded after a single use. This reduces waste and material consumption compared with single use.

Transparent supply chain

Our responsibility does not end at our factory gates – it also extends to our business partners. We only work with suppliers who meet minimum environmental, social and ethical standards. These include fair working conditions and fair pay at our partners’ premises.

Since 2010, a binding Code of Conduct and regular supplier and social audits have ensured compliance with these standards.
